The Student Consortium on Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) is a student-led organization that aims to — in collaboration with the US Civil Society Working Group on WPS (U.S. CSWG) — promote awareness of the implications of women and gender in security and foreign policy. We strive to ensure that policymakers around the globe are aware of the importance of gender issues in these disciplines and the need to institutionalize a feminist approach when solving critical issues surrounding peace and security.
WPS STUDENT CONSORTIUM GOALS
1.
Encourage intergenerational and innovative thinking regarding the WPS Agenda within the civil society space as it advocates for new research and policy.
2.
Connect students working on WPS issues across the DC consortium while establishing meaningful coalitions between professionals and DC students.
3.
Increase awareness of the WPS agenda across a wider DC educational audience and publicly promote appreciation for a gendered approach to security and a feminist approach to foreign policy.
